St James Church supports and welcomes the people of Ukraine following the invasion by Russia on 24th February 2022.
Members of the church have hosted Ukrainian refugees in their homes
We have opened up the Barn on Wednesday mornings (10:00am to 12:00pm on 1st and 3rd Wednesdays of each month) to welcome Ukranians to the Bedford area. There is the opportunity to meet fellow Ukranians and especially for those recently arrived there are clothes and other useful necessities freely available. Our vicar Eric heard God speak to him at the time of the initial invasion and is committed to provide pastoral support to all Ukranians in our midst.
Ukranian school
A Saturday school will be running weekly from 1st October 2023 at St James VA Primary school in the village for the children of Ukranian refugees in the Bedford area. The school is free for the children of Ukranian refugees, supported by individuals and the Diocese of St Albans
