We encourage a generous attitude. The PCC made a donation of £1500 to the Leprosy Mission. They do a really important work caring for those in third world counties suffering from leprosy. 200,000 people a year catch leprosy, but it is now curable.
This donation was in addition to the money given by members of the church through a collection box scheme.
About the leprosy mission
The Leprosy Mission is a global Christian organisation dedicated to combating leprosy and its effects. Their mission focuses on achieving zero leprosy transmission, disability, and discrimination. They provide vital medical care by diagnosing and treating leprosy, caring for individuals with disabilities, and advocating for social change to fight the stigma associated with the disease. With a commitment to empowering those affected, the organisation also pioneers research to enhance treatment methods and improve the quality of life for individuals living with leprosy.
In addition to direct medical support, the Leprosy Mission emphasises community involvement and education. They work closely with local partners in regions such as Africa and Asia, facilitating job training for young people affected by leprosy and promoting awareness to reduce discrimination. By mobilising resources and encouraging donations, the Leprosy Mission aims to ensure that those impacted by leprosy receive comprehensive care and support, thus transforming lives and fostering dignity within marginalised communities.
