Ven Paul Hughes (Archdeacon of Bedford) is to lead a pilgrimage to the Holy Land, 16–25 May  next year. Also Canon Dennis Stamps will lead a Rome and Assisi pilgrimage 11-18 Sept 2017:

The Shalom Group of Churches (of which St James is a member) is holding a Quiz with a Fish and Chips meal at 6pm Sat 24 Sept, Queens Park Free Church, Howard Avenue, Queens Park. The only charge will be for the Fish and Chips!! Please come along and support us.

St James – wanted. We need bowls suitable for planting spring bulbs in, so we can sell them at the Bazaar. Any size will do. Please contact Sue Squire (342373) or leave at the back of the church by the food bank.

St James Harvest Festival Sun 2 Oct. We are supporting the Bishop’s Harvest Appeal: ‘Life-giving Water’ transforming lives in rural Madagascar . Also supporting The King’s Arms Charity with gifts of non-perishable food and practical items like socks, hats, gloves, underclothes and men’s toiletries. These to be brought to church and given during the service. After the service everyone is invited to a free continental breakfast  in the Barn. Donations to the Bishop’s Appeal.

Many thanks to the outdoor enthusiasts for tackling the drizzle last Saturday for the St James churchyard workparty – and also to those who worked on the Friday. Edwin Martin
