A married couple are to share the post of Pioneer Minister for Great Denham and West Kempston, the Bishop of Bedford has announced.
Rev. Stephen Huckle relayed the news to St James’s congregation on Sunday September 21. It is hoped the new ministers will begin their work in January 2015.
Rev. Stephen read out the letter from Bishop Richard confirming the announcement, which said:
“I am delighted that we are now in a position to confirm that Captain David and Sister Suzette Maguire have been appointed as Pioneer Minister (job share) for Gt Denham and West Kempston.
“David and Suzette are currently working as part of the team at the Church Army Newcastle ‘Centre of Mission’ as Fresh Expression Evangelists (known locally as Community Ministers), working on new housing estates in North Tyneside.
“Married for over 14 years, David and Suzette met at Church Army training college. They enjoy walking and have just returned from walking Hadrian’s Wall (84 miles in six days) for the second time! They look forward to introducing their extended family, including two grown-up children and four grandchildren, to the people and the area that they will be both living and working with.
“It is hoped to welcome David and Suzette to Gt Denham and West Kempston at the beginning of January. An exact date will be confirmed in due course.”
