Advent study course at ASK 2016
About Exploring Prayer:
Venue: All Saints church hall, Church End, Kempston Rural
Exploring Prayer is a six week experiential course which, as the title states, explores different ways to pray.
The premise comes from the fact that I believe, as we are all unique, we can all be led to pray in different ways and that, with that in mind, there is no right or wrong way to pray. Guilt is just one obstacle to effective prayer. We will address that and others.
I need to stress that this is not an academic course on prayer: the experiential part comes from the fact that it came out of my own experience of difficulty with prayer and that participants will be ‘trying out’ different sorts of prayer over the 6 weeks. Each person’s experiences will be very personal to them and need not be shared with the rest of the group unless they want to.
I ran this course previously up in the North East where it was very well received: of the 5 people who did the voluntary review of the course at the end of the six weeks, three participants said that all of the six week’s topics had helped improved their prayer-life; one said that three of the weeks had helped them; and another was very struck by one of the weeks in particular. Anecdotally everyone in the group (those who did the voluntary review and those that didn’t) was glad that they had participated.
The dates for the group are as follows:
- Monday 31st October
Monday 7th November
Tuesday (**not Monday) 15th November
Monday 21st November
Monday 28th November
Monday 5th December
All six evenings are 7.30 – 9 pm.
