This year, on Monday 25th August, the Diocese of St Albans is celebrating its centenary in its present form. 1914 was the year that Essex left the diocese to form the Diocese of Chelmsford and Bedfordshire left the Diocese of Ely to become part of the Diocese of St Albans. If that all sounds a bit of a mouthful, don’t be put off, because I am reliably informed that this year’s celebration of this event will be a day of great fun and festivity, which will appeal to everyone and not just churchgoers. It is taking place at the Keysoe Equestrian Centre from 10.00am until 5.00pm. Our cluster has a coach leaving the transfiguration in Kempston at 10.00am, so do sign up for this in church. There will be the Essex Dog Display Team, various Classic cars, It’s a Deanery Knockout (which of course the Bedford Deanery is aiming to win) and there will be various craft displays, music, seminars and speakers from J.John to Jeffery John. Pam Rhodes will be there and the Holy Kapow Circus (whatever that might be!). There will be a Diocesan Eucharist at 3.00pm. You just cannot afford to miss it.
